Divide Creek Now [Eicher/Bracken Beaver Pond 2007]

This Prairie Falcon (the only one I've ever seen in Summerhawk) was present when I first filmed this September to capture baseline footage. As you can see, it keenly observed my presence even as I narrated the scene and walked along the bank not twenty yards away. This is unusual behavior for this or any other type of bird under these disruptive circumstances.  It remained until I left the area to film another area, and was gone when I returned. A bird of supreme predatory skill, speed and accuracy, the falcon teaches us to observe and apply timing in order to make the most of every opportunity.  I was grateful for its presence this day, as I recognized it as a reminder to be as patient and astute as possible in my observations.   New addition to old beaver pond. New bubbling observed mid-way and further into new structure. No bubbling observed in the very near ground where it begins to adjoin the old pond [09-27-07]

Here is the picture of the fish in the old part of the beaver pond (I can't believe I managed to capture this still photo off of video - it was a fleeting instant!) To see the fish leaping, find the center point of the photo, Now trace a trajectory straight up, half way. Look a tiny bit to the left. That's the fish arching out of the water. [09-27-07]
